Like happening in previous editions of the Sahara Desert Challenge, during the stay of the expedition in Africa will count on the official support of the tourist authorities, police and military of Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal and Guinea-Bissau. police or military brigades, and occasionally both, will monitor continuously the entire African route of the expedition, a presence during the day and especially at night in the campings in the desert.

The Sahara Desert Challenge is not a dangerous adventure, but there are risks inherent in the realization of an expedition of this nature. We recommend that the participant feel informed about the situation in North Africa and West Africa, especially in specific regions of the expedition passage.

Participants have at their side an equipped and prepared organization, support by local authorities who are keen to join us permanently in the border crossing, on the tracks and group camp sites.

Advice about this expediton: The best way to avoid surprises is to be responsible and self-sufficient to your vehicle controls!

Solidarity Mission SDC 2017 - Guinea-Bissau

The Sahara Desert Challenge promotes in its edition 2017 "Solidarity Mission SDC - Guinea-Bissau", an initiative of humanitarian aid to populations of various disadvantaged inland villages of Guinea-Bissau.

Guinea-Bissau is a country with high poverty rates a quarter of its population living below the poverty line, with an average yield of only one euro per day. In some of the inland villages, the reality is poverty, translated into a difficult everyday that leaves little room for key issues such as education or health.

This mission will allow participants to contribute through donation of materials by members of their own teams, companies or individuals, to improve education and health conditions in Guinea-Bissau inland villages. The mission will include the collection, transport and delivery of basic school supplies, hospital supplies and small hospital support equipment.

The material collected will go to organizations not local Government and direct delivery in schools and hospitals. The humanitarian nature of the mission aims to contribute to bringing the great travelers of the people of Guinea-Bissau, strengthening bonds of solidarity that will not be broken, because however small the help will always be a positive contribution and that can change someone's life.

The organization of transport capacity is limited by what we will not do the transport of materials collected by the participants. Each participant shall ensure transportation of humanitarian aid to collect and must offer in Portugal surplus materials.
