The Sahara Desert Challenge promotes “Solidarity Mission SDC – Mauritania”, an initiative of humanitarian aid to populations of various disadvantaged inland villages of Mauritania.
Mauritania is a country with high poverty rates a quarter of its population living below the poverty line, with an average yield of only one euro per day. In some of the inland villages, the reality is poverty, translated into a difficult everyday that leaves little room for key issues such as education or health.
This mission will allow participants to contribute through donation of materials by members of their own teams, companies or individuals, to improve education and health conditions in Mauritania inland villages. The mission will include the collection, transport and delivery of basic school supplies, hospital supplies and small hospital support equipment.
The material collected will go to organizations not local Government and direct delivery in schools and hospitals. The humanitarian nature of the mission aims to contribute to bringing the great travelers of the people of Guinea-Bissau, strengthening bonds of solidarity that will not be broken, because however small the help will always be a positive contribution and that can change someone’s life.
The organization of transport capacity is limited by what we will not do the transport of materials collected by the participants. Each participant shall ensure transportation of humanitarian aid to collect and must offer in Portugal surplus materials.
